The Forum is a not-for-profit, apolitical and regional association of West Africa.

Membership of the Forum

Membership of the Forum is open to all the GIABA member states’ FIUs. The Forum also reserves the right to admit a non-GIABA member state FIU to be a member of the Forum in the achievement of its core mandates and objectives. The Forum is currently made up of 15 ECOWAS Member States and 2 non-ECOWAS Members.

Objectives of the Forum

  • To provide a platform enabling the FIUs in the ECOWAS region to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against money laundering and its predicate offences, the financing of terrorism and proliferation;
  • To facilitate and encourage the implementation of AML/CFT programs in the Member States;
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of the AML/CFT programmes in the member states.
